Food & Wine

I became a wine enthusiast when I was in my mid twenties. I am now thirty-five, so I have been dabbling with wine for a while! I have always had a passion for cooking and baking but when I found out that wine had the ability to take the flavors of food to the next level I was intrigued. I began going to wine tastings and as I learned more about the art of wine making and the complexity of different wine varietals I began to introduce them to different dishes that I would cook or bake. Sure enough, I noticed that the addition of wine within my recipes created a party for my taste buds! This made me want to expand my wine knowledge since I started to understand that wine is more than a drink, it is an ingredient.

When I began using wine as an essential ingredient in our kitchen I decided that I wanted to attend wine school to learn more about the wine making process and how to properly pair food and wine to get the most flavors out of my recipes! I started by receiving my Texas Wine Ambassador Certification through the Hill Country Wine Academy in Hye, Texas. I learned about different wine regions around the world and how Texas plays such an important role within the wine industry. As a native Texan this education was so interesting!

I left with so much knowledge about wine through becoming a Texas Wine Ambassador that I decided to further my wine education to achieve my WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) Level 2 Certification through London-UK to dive deeper into food and wine pairings, wine production, vineyard management, label interpretations, and so much more. I am still taking in all that I have learned and I look forward to sharing my food and wine knowledge with you!
